UF Gator Trumpet Studio

Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Trumpet Studio at the University of Florida School of Music! The UF Gator Trumpet Studio consists of 14-18 undergraduate and graduate students from all over the United States and across the southwest.

The UF Trumpet Studio is a dynamic group of young musicians dedicated to achieving the highest standards of instrumental technique in order to serve their artistry and grow their musical voice. Whether studying trumpet performance, music education, or music in combination with an outside field, the UF trumpet studio works together embodying the values of professionalism, collegiality, curiosity and the desire to improve. Under the direction of Dr. Christopher Scanlon, UF Trumpets learn to be adaptive collaborators who excel in diverse musical settings and maintain a growth mindset on the path towards acheiveing their goals. The UF trumpet studio is a challenging yet supportive environment where each student receives a customized trumpet curriculum designed to capitalize on their strengths, shore up their weaknesses and maximize their potential. Weekly studio activities include warm-up classes, solo class, guest artist masterclasses, individual lessons, trumpet ensembles, brass quintet and chamber ensemble coachings. They leave UF prepared to be leaders in their ensembles, schools and the communities they serve. Students of Dr. Scanlon have gone on to win positions with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and regional orchestras, graduate assistantships in top doctoral programs, and teaching positions in college and secondary education as well as invited competitors in the National Trumpet Competition, International Trumpet Guild Chamber Music Competition and the National Brass Quintet Competition.

Please reach out to Dr. Scanlon directly if you would like to schedule a lesson and visit the UF Trumpet Studio. We hope to see you soon!
